Different Backdrops…So It Stays Special For You!

Want a timeless look? A simple white backdrop with black shirts always work!

Ever wonder what goes into creating our backdrops for photo sessions? Which ones are always available versus which ones are seasonal and have limited availability? Who sets them up and how are they created? Knowing what we have (and when!) can help you determine when you want to have your session!

We have two studios, allowing us to have different backdrops simultaneously. One is for our standards, and one constantly changes for Valentine’s Day/ Spring/Summer and Holiday - our busiest season.

One thing to keep in mind is that our standard, neutral backdrops (white, light grey, and black) are always available and can be used for any session. Sometimes people request one of these ahead of time because they know in advance that they want a certain look. There's no need to select one though, as you can definitely wait until you arrive at the studio and then decide which one suits you best.

Seasonal backdrops are specific to the season, and our creative director, Nina, designs and implements them throughout the year. (We don't buy our backdrops! They are handmade! ) For our seasonal backdrops, Nina tries to stay on-trend with colors and patterns. Materials come from anywhere, including fabric stores, painting stores, and online sites. Some of our sleds are even from her grandparents' house! How special is that?! Nina wants the backdrops to be fun but also compatible with the heights of families/babies and their outfits. It usually takes a full day or more to get the looks together and Nina starts thinking about new looks almost immediately after setting up the current looks!

We are currently changing up our backdrops and we're about to install our new Fall look. Think: lots of florals (typically bought online at various sites), grass (cut from the side of the road!), and tons of autumnal colors shown in various ways. We keep some props in our storage and use year after year, like our pumpkins and sticks. Yes, we have storage bins organized by season!

Mixing up the backdrops seasonally keeps things fresh at the studio. We want our families to have new, fun, and unique experiences time and time again. Below are examples of our timeless backdrops and some past seasonal backgrounds created by Nina.
